What is RSS? Do I need it?

RSS feeds enable you to get NJJazzList update notifications delivered directly to your desktop through a news aggregator program (recent versions of Mozilla FoxFire or Internet Explorer web browsers, for example).

RSS is convenient for many people because it allows them to subscribe to feeds from several Internet sites and automatically pull together headlines or updates from all the sources into one place. This lets you quickly browse the list of new content without visiting each site or having to sign-up for email updates or newsletters.

What do I need to use RSS? All you need to start receiving RSS feeds is an RSS reader (Popular browers have an RSS reader built-in). Use whatever program you choose to subscribe to the Web site from which you want to receive updates or news items. The information will be delivered automatically to your RSS reader. Here are the steps:

1. Find the RSS button on the page you want be upaded.
2. Click on the button and indicate you want to subscribe.
3. A small icon will appear at the top of your browser that will update when the page you subscibed to is updated.

I want it! Subscribe me to an RSS feed now or take me back to NJJazzList.
